Life comes at you from all directions.....
Posted On 06/01/2008 11:47:37

The past couple of weeks have DEFINITELY been trying.  If you've ever been to Atlanta, you know that traffic on I-285 is CRAZY.  On my way home from work, my Zune died.  It was a complete and total travesty.  There I was STUCK on 285 with no music.  What's worse, I removed all the cds from my car because everything was on my Zune.  That was Monday.  The week before, my speakers died while I was teaching class.  What else could possibly go wrong?

On Friday, the overdrive protection light in my car starts flashing.  I'm not a mechanic, so I have no idea what it means.  I call my mechanic who tells me he fears that it may be my transmission.  That's not cool.  I live in Lawrenceville and work in Marietta which is half way across town.  I tow the car to the shop and find out the transmission is shot.  Before I have him do any work, I verify that the extended warranty will cover ALL the expenses but they don't reopen until Monday.  So what's a girl to do about transportation you ask?  You go out and buy another car.  Thank GOD, my mother is a trooper because at that point I just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry my eyes out.  We got a great deal from CarMax.  Shout out to Shirley Southwell at CarMax in Norcross.

I spoke to a rep for the warranty and they tell me that everything is covered.  I call my mechanic and tell him to get started on fixing my baby.  no sooner do i get my old car fixed, that my new car is involved in a minor fender bender.  let this be a lesson to everyone who drives too darn close on rainy days.  i'm at a stop sign when i get rear ended because the (expletive) behind me had faulty brakes.  he was very apologetic and the only damage to the car was a nicked bumper.  OH THE DRAMA!!!!  There is never a dull moment.

The UPSIDE!!!!  Every electronic item I own has an extended warranty and it's a good thing.  I replaced my Zune with a store issued gift card from Best Buy.  The speakers were replaced by SquareTrade and the car repairs were covered by Continental warranty.  I have my tunes, speakers and a PHAT ride.  LIFE IS GREAT!!!!
