May, June, July, & August News from kg yoga life practices
|
Blessings All,
It is the twenty-first day of May. I have spent the first twenty days of this month slowing myself down. It has allowed me to rediscover balance. With ten days left in the month, I feel more grounded and able to move forward with the services that I provide through kg yoga life practices. I am grateful that I have been able to take this time to rejuvenate myself with meditation, yoga, mantra chanting, devotional reading, spending time with family and friends, and participating in NIH's first annual Yoga Week. All of these activities have been blessings. Now it is time for me to bless you with news from kg yoga life practices. See below.
1) Class Themes for May, June, July, and August
NOTE: kg yoga life practices offers kind and gentle yoga classes and office yoga sessions to individuals, couples, small groups, businesses, and organizations. For more information about class descriptions and fees, contact kiamshaleeke@yahoo.com.
a. May
Class Theme: Breathe in the power of equanimity (upekkha) and allow it to generate balance in your spirit, heart, mind, and body.
Chakra Focus: The root chakra is located at the base of the spine and groin area. It is associated with adrenals, kidneys, muscles and arterial blood. The root chakra links you to the physical world. It is associated with the color red and governs your personal survival (rest, food, and shelter). The root chakra also addresses your individual integrity and provides a solid ground from which to establish your balance in life.
Essential Oil: Frankincense promotes balance, deepens the breath, stills the mind, and is associated with spiritual practice.
Yoga Pose: The tree pose is a standing pose that promotes balance and strengthens the legs, thighs, calves, ankles, and spine. It also stretches the groins and inner thighs, chest and shoulders.
Mantra: Upekkha is a Sanskrit word translated as equanimity. It refers to an unshakable balance of mind, rooted in insight. Upekkha is freedom from all points of self-reference.
Goddess: Ma'at is the Egyptian/Kemetian goddess of harmony, balance, and universal law.
b. June
Class Theme: Breathe in the practice of mindfulness (sati) and allow it to make you more aware of each moment.
Chakra Focus: The third eye chakra is located right between the eyebrows on the forehead. It governs intuition and wisdom. The third eye is associated with the color indigo.
Essential Oil: Peppermint is a refreshing, cooling, uplifting, and restoring oil.
Yoga Pose: The child's pose is a resting pose that calms the brain and helps relieve stress and fatigue. It also relieves back and neck pain, and gives a gentle stretch for the hips, thighs and ankles.
Mantra: Sati is a Pali word that refers to the ability of the mind to be present and observe without criticism.
Goddess: Menrfa or Menrva is the Etruscan name of the goddess of the mind. She is also the goddess of wisdom and the arts (know as Minerva in Rome and Athene in Greece).
c. July
Class Theme: Breathe in the discipline of concentration (dharana) and allow it to focus your mental energy on one point.
Chakra Focus: The solar plexus is located between the navel and heart, at the pericardium (below the breasts at the V of the ribs). It is associated with the color yellow. The solar plexus governs personal power, persistence, courage, and will power.
Essential Oil: Sandalwood is an earthy, woody scent that inspires insight and spiritual elevation.
Yoga Pose: Seated and standing twist poses strengthen the core and promote digestion.
Mantra: Dharana is a Sanskrit word that refers to bring the mind back repeatedly to the same object. When you bring your mind back to the same object, your breath naturally slows down. This slowing creates a state of deep concentration. When the movement of the breath is connected to the movement of the mind, a quiet mind is born.
Goddess: Romi Kumu is the Colombian goddess of will power.
d. August
Class Theme: Breathe in the practice of meditation (dhyana) and allow it to develop your consciousness without thought.
Chakra Focus: The third eye chakra is located right between the eyebrows on the forehead. It governs intuition and wisdom. The third eye is associated with the color indigo.
Essential Oil: Eucalyptus helps to clear the mind and focus concentration.
Yoga Pose: Easy pose opens the hips, lengthens the spine, and promotes groundedness and inner calm.
