1. May 19-23 in Bethesda, MD - The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will premier its first FREE annual Yoga Week. Highlighting the science and practice of yoga, this five-day series of events will serve NIH employees and the public. Participants will not only learn about the benefits of yoga but also experience them first-hand through stretching and practice. 1. Mid Atlantic Yoga Association (MAYA) – MAYA offers community yoga events throughout the year and is a source for identifying local yoga teachers. http://www.mayayoga.org/
2. Yoga Alliance (YA) – YA maintains a national list of registered yoga teachers, sponsors Yoga Day USA in January (free and affordable yoga events nationwide). http://www.yogaalliance.org/
3. International Association of Black Yoga Teachers (IABYT) – IABYT is a great source for finding Black yoga teachers in the USA and yoga events, conferences, and resources dedicated to supporting the Black community. http://www.blackyogateachers.com/
4. Meetup.com offers a listing of local yoga and meditation groups. Most groups are free to join or require a small fee.
