ABOUT ME
My name is Shakti Maatka Mwamba, I am a Hatha Yoga teacher and an African American Doula. I am also a HypnoBirthing Practitioner, Natural Hair Sulptress, and an Intuitive Wellness Coach.

I've practiced Yoga for a number of years but my turning point came when I became pregnant and had to search for a Black Prenatal Yoga Teacher. I was living in London at the time so it was very difficult. However, in returning back to the States I saw it was not any better for women of color to receive support from people who looked like them in the area of Prenatal care. So I sought out to become that in which I needed most myself, a Black Yoga Teacher and a Black Doula committed to the support of minority and low-income women.

I apologize for not responding back to you in a timely fashion. Things hav ebeen extremely busy at work. Anyhow, you wanted info on where I received my Reiki certification. I was trained by a sister by the name of Deirdre who lives in Chicago as well. If you like, I can connect the two of you together so that you can begin your journey as a reiki practitioner.

I am on here for a little while, the only way I could send you a message, was by signing up, you know the only student I am teaching is myself!  Anyway you look heavenly and peaceful on your pic. Congratulations on reaching your goal! At my last Yoga Retreatfor women of Color we had two guest teachers Jana Long, who is a certified Yoga teacher and her focus is on Yoga and Ayurvveda and Dr. Carol Penn who is a medical physician and a Doula. This is a great opportunity to spread the word aobut your work and connect with women of color.
