My name is Maatka Mwamba, many know me simply as Shakti. I am an African American Doula and Hatha Yoga teacher with a prenatal specialty. I am also a Lactation Counselor, Meditation Instructor and Wellness coach.

I've practiced Yoga for a number of years but my turning point came when I became pregnant and had to search for a Black Prenatal Yoga Teacher. I was living in London at the time so it was very difficult. However, in returning back to the States I saw it was not any better for women of color to receive support from people who looked like them in the area of Prenatal care. So I sat out to become that in which I needed myself, a Black Yoga Teacher and a Black Doula committed to the support of minority and low-income women.
